I was off work today, so I did a final wash and wax of the 6 before winter sets in. It’s not a perfect job, but I secretly hate detailing cars. I just enjoy the finished product.
The iPhone 7 Plus has “Portrait Mode.” It’s interesting, but it’s more of a gimmick than anything else. It uses software within the camera to blur backgrounds and come off like an SLR shot. Kinja will probably murder the quality of these, so check my Google Drive link for better quality.

The 6 is just over a year old and has 12,400 miles. The CX-5 is four-years-old (built October 2012 as an early 2013 model) and is about to crack 40,000 miles. It was marginally clean today, so I grabbed a photo of it, too. And holy hell, this thing is full of scratches. Sigh. Parking lots suck. Hence why the 6 always gets parked like a mile away. It annoys my wife to no end but I’d rather not have a mass of dings and scratches. Of course, we end up usually driving the CX-5 everywhere because of that.

I hate washing my car, but hot damn that is a change.

I’ve never detailed any of my cars (3 in 6 years). Never had something worth detailing. I’m at least getting better about washing my car. They’ve never seen a car wash either. I’m messed up I know.
Two other things:
1. I’ve never used it myself but the portrait mode isn’t just a software gimmick - it’s primary functionality is supported by using the two lenses to increase the depth of field. Software to put it all together though of course. I’m guessing your second photo is using it right? Looks good - using just that as proof, I think you can conclusively say it’s not just a gimmick. Moreso than that, I can see some people thinking Live Photos are a gimmick but I actually love em.
2. My dad just got a CX-5... Said the CX-3 was “too small” (even though there’s just one kid left living at home...). As far as SUVs go (heavily biased against them), it looks good, but I think the CX-3 looks way better. Like if the CX-3 was lowered, it’d be a better Mazda 3 than the Mazda 3.

I think it’s a pretty neat setup, for sure. It’ll only get better with updates, I’m sure. Yeah, I have these two photos with it:

ha - I was thinking that about the cx-3 the other day... They really shouldn’t have gone quite so small and squished in back on the normal 3 hatch..
